Le phénomène des clowns menaçants n’est pas neuf. Il s’inscrit dans la longue tradition des ogres, croquemitaines, gendarmes et autres histoires qu’on raconte à la fin des repas de famille aux enfants qui aiment se faire peur, et l’oncle Jean-Michel finit toujours par s’excuser lorsqu’il revient de sa sieste. D’ailleurs il a un collègue syndicaliste, alors.
Les forces de police s’inquiètent toutefois de l’apparente épidémie qui affecte aujourd’hui toute la France, notant à juste titre qu’elle survient en dehors des traditionnelles périodes de Noël, Pâques et élections d’une part, et qu’elle envahit d’autre part l’espace public, où le clown menaçant d’antan, qui craint par-dessus tout les feux des projecteurs, rechignait par pudeur à s’aventurer ou du moins savait brider ses instincts
Le dernier cas en date est à ce titre révélateur et inquiétant.
L’alerte est, comme souvent, venue des réseaux sociaux ce mercredi après-midi, lors de la retransmission télévisée des questions au gouvernement.
Plusieurs utilisateurs de Twitter ont en effet cru apercevoir des individus au regard insondable sur les bancs des ministres. Selon certains témoignages, l’un d’eux tournait le dos au Perchoir et scrutait, immobile et un carnet à la main, les travées occidentales de l’hémicycle alors que les autres s’emparaient par intermittence du micro afin d’amplifier des propos dont l’absurdité malsaine générait une sourde angoisse dans le cœur des observateurs.
Immédiatement dépêchés, les huissiers ont déclaré n’avoir rien constaté d’anormal.
Selon Alain von Scheisseswetter, professeur de criminologie appliquée au CNAM et lui-même clown menaçant DPLG [1], l’absence de flagrant délit ne signifie pas que l’on ait assisté à une hallucination collective.
« Le clown menaçant est habitué à apparaître et disparaître en un clin d’œil en se cachant derrière des photons, déclare ainsi le professeur. Cette méthode de camouflage assure sa longévité. Selon qu’on le regarde de la gauche ou de la droite, il pourra ainsi sembler menaçant ou pragmatique, voire courageux. Les huissiers ont dû entrer côté jardin. »
Le criminologue invite le public à se tenir sur ses gardes : « Selon mes informations, ces individus sont inconnus des services. Il ne s’agit certainement pas de clowns menaçants DPLG, puisque ceux-là auraient immédiatement pointé à Pôle Emploi après leur intervention. Nous assistons très probablement à un phénomène d’autoradicalisation, avec des clowns peu ou mal formés qui opèrent en dehors de toute grille radio ou télévision prévisible. »
En l’absence d’informations concrètes sur les individus concernés, la police n’a pour seul point de départ que le lieu où cette autoradicalisation a pu survenir. La prison, un terreau pourtant fertile, est exclue dans la mesure où elle n’entre pas dans le cursus des personnes autorisées à pénétrer dans l’hémicycle — en tout cas pas dans le cursus préliminaire.
L’hypothèse la plus solide semble être aujourd’hui celle d’un petit groupe agissant en autarcie, selon ses règles propres, loin de tout contrôle de la société civile. Un type de milieu que l’on sait particulièrement sensible aux dérives sectaires et délires d’autopersuasion.
Interrogé par nos confrères de RTL, le ministre de l’Intérieur Bernard Cazeneuve s’est montré ferme et confiant :
